Lunch Time Book Club with Author Ashton Lee
This month’s book club will be a very special meeting! We will be discussing The Cherry Cola Book Club, and the author himself, Mr. Ashton Lee, will join us! We’re moving the day to Wednesday, just this once, so that he can join us. He will also be doing an afternoon author event later the same day, but we wanted to give our Lunch Time Book Club members first priority, although anyone is welcome to join us! This is a warm and witty story about a small town library and the group that comes together to save it! Afternoon Tea with Ashton Lee
After he visits with our book club at noon (see above), Mr. Lee will join us for an Afternoon Tea, this will be your chance to bask in his old fashioned Southern charm, hear him read a bit from the book, ask questions, and have him sign your copy of The Cherry Cola Book Club.

Top 20 New Books : Kid’s Edition!
Just like we do for our Adult Top 20 Best Books of the Season, we are doing a session all about kids books! We know that families are looking for great new reads for kids to consume during summer vacation, so we’re reading and consulting all our extra special kid reviewers in preparation. We’ll cover the best new picture books, early chapter books, and middle grade reads, with a few young adult selections thrown in. To make it more convenient, we’re holding two sessions, one at Noon and one at 5:30 pm.

Back by popular demand, local teacher Miss Brynn Phillips will read stories to your little ones from our picture book selection.

Wheels & Deals Just for Boys ages 4 through 7
Wheel on over for a fun morning of vehicle-themed stories, games, and activities especially planned for young boys by our own Miss Brynn Phillips. A $25 pre-registration fee reserves your child’s spot as well as a goodie bag including a brand new hardcover picture book. Space is Limited and Pre-Registration Required!

Glitter & Glamour for Girls ages 4 through 7
Grace us with your presence at a fun afternoon of glittery and glamorous stories, games, and activities especially planned for young girls by our own Miss Brynn Phillips. Wendy Webb, Author of The Fate of Mercy Alban
We are so excited to announce that Wendy Webb has agreed to come to The Next Chapter! The time and date may change a bit, but we wanted to let you know ASAP, so you can make plans! A Minnesota native, Webb is the author of The Tale of Halcyon Crane and The Fate of Mercy Alban, a pair of wonderful, spine tingling Gothic Romances. We selected The Fate of Mercy Alban as one of our Top 20 Best Books for Spring 2013, and since then we’ve had great fun hearing from all our customers about how much they enjoyed the book. Those of you who have seen our windows know that Tresa has a knack for putting things together in arresting and gorgeous displays, so we talked her into sharing some of her holiday decorating secrets with you. We know it’s a bit early in the season, but we’ve gotten lots of requests for this event, so here it is, in time for you to learn the tricks before you shop to fulfill your own beautiful holiday vision!

Living Windows
This downtown event has been going for decades now, and brings all the great folks in our community together for an evening to kick off the Holidays with living window displays. I’m always so amazed at how many people I get to reconnect with during this fun event. Check back, we will post this year’s theme and other important information as we know more.
