As Spring slowly unfolds here in Iowa, there are lots of opportunities to sit down with a good book — and this season’s crop of reads is pretty great, in my humble opinion. The reading pile on my side table at home is about a mile high!
I’ve had a blast going through the umpteen publishers’ catalogues sifting through them to bring you the best new books in every category. The list is too long to enumerate here, but I’ll include a few standout titles on our Book News page. Also be sure to check out the book reviews here at this site because Tresa, Bob and I are reading as fast as we can so that we can report back to you on some of the most engaging books we run across.
We also have some fun events planned for the upcoming months and listed on our Events page — everything from book signings to a special Twilight Reader’s party and of course our Lunch Bunch Book Club and Craft Night. First up will be Iowan Jeffrey Martin author of the thriller Lucifer’s Calling, and several other books, who will be signing books and answering questions on Thursday, April 22nd, at 5 pm.
Because we’ve had so many great opportunities to bring new authors to you, we’ve had to make the difficult choice of suspending our casual book club, Readers Anonymous, for the time being. Tresa and I were both worried about spreading ourselves too thinly what with the fun goings on at Next Chapter and family life. We hope those of you who have so graciously supported Readers Anonymous will join us for some of the other events we have planned. Due to this change in schedules, we will move Craft Night up to 5:15 pm on the Last Thursday of Each Month.
