It’s Our Second Anniversary!

01 Nov

We’re celebrating with a party on Thursday, November 4th, 9 am to 6 pm. Stop in any time during the day for coffee and treats and to register for drawings for a boxed set of Harry Potter books, $25 gift certificates, and much more!

Can you believe it?  Maybe the past two years haven’t flown by for you in a flurry of books and jewelry and stuffed animals and learning curves and wonderful customers; but they have for us! We find ourselves at this point, a little out of breath, and very thankful for what we have been given!

Looking to the Future

As we approached this anniversary, we spent a good deal of time talking about what our goals had been before we opened our doors, and what we want to achieve over the next year.  The most important thing we hope to do is continue to serve our customers and our community with even better service and selection than before.  We hope to reach out to more of the families of Marion County, and even to the people in surrounding communities.  We want to bring more great authors to Knoxville. We want to become your go-to shop for books and gifts.

And we want to continue to do our part in bringing a new chapter to downtown Knoxville.  The past years have seen some remarkable positive changes here; since we opened our doors, Knoxville has gained some great restaurants, a micro-brewery, an arts center, and a women’s clothing boutique.  We’re excited about what this year will bring to our town!

On the Shelves

A Jewelry Tree hung with hand beaded jewelry!

Toward that end, we have really stocked up on books and gifts to make your holiday season more convenient and fulfilling. We have an array of beautiful new holiday decorations, Christmas books for children and adults, jewelry and accessories for both ladies and gentlemen; games, puzzles, coffees, teas, and hot cocoa mixes; and fun and educational games, craft kits, and loveable stuffed animals for the kids.  We’ve even updated our baby gift section!

The Baby Department

In response to your feedback, we’ve placed special emphasis on the small gift items you might give to a friend or co-worker, and we think you’ll be able to find that special little something that says you care without breaking the bank.

New Books

This season’s crop of books has been inspiring, with new releases from reliable favorites like Janet Evanovich, John Grisham, Sarah Gruen, and Nicholas Sparks — as well as some gems from less familiar authors like Tom Franklin, Eliot Pattison, Shilpi Somaya Gowda, and many more.  We even have the best of regional releases like What Cheer by Zachary Michael Jack and Possum Trot by J. Harley McIlrath.

If you are more comfortable solving puzzles, we’ve got Sudoku, Kenken, crosswords, word searches, and quiz books.  If you love life in the kitchen, we’ve got more cookbooks than we’ve got the shelves for!  And if you are young, or young at heart, we’ve got a beautiful selection of board books, picture books, and chapter books to keep you reading through the years.

The Early Reader's Hallway

We’ve also expanded our transitional readers section with an entire hallway of books especially for those new young readers with favorite series like Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones, and the Boxcar Children – but we’ve also stocked some lesser known series like the Sisters 8, Hank Zipzer, and Amber Brown.

And keep in mind that to make your life easier, we offer “Direct to Home” shipping on any book, anywhere, for very reasonable shipping rates that beat the competition!

Used Books

Once again this November, we will be collecting Books for the Troops.  We invite you to purchase a new or used book and we will ship it to Iowa troops serving overseas.  Stay tuned for more information on this fun project.

So, as we follow the season into late fall, and as we begin our third year in business, please be sure to stop in to help us celebrate, and check out all the treasures we’ve brought back for you here at the Next Chapter!
